    ABOUT

Aging, and all that comes with it, does not equate to a loss of value as a human being. In an age of progressive social movements and a push for change, acceptance, and equality, older members of our society are largely overlooked. The people who raised us, fought for us in wars, and paved the way for our success and failures are being shelved and forgotten.

Resources are not being allocated towards improving the quality of life and acceptance of older people. Some are isolated and neglected because of the prevalent ageism that exists in the political, social, and economic institutions that govern us.

Many people fear growing old. Whether it is the dreadful thought of losing memories, independence, loved ones, or physical health and capabilities, aging is a natural progression of life that has been made taboo by our youth-obsessed culture. Perhaps one of the scariest things about aging is the isolation and loneliness it can bring. Many people end up in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and private home care where they are forgotten. Their stories go untold; their voices unheard.

Our goal is to gather the stories of people who do not always have others to listen. We want to know what older members of our society care about. We want to show that not all people over age 65 are the same.
